Tennis fans will be more than familiar with Ivan Lendl, the Czech player who was the world’s number one for 270 weeks. Despite reaching the Wimbledon final in 1986 and 1987 he never won the tournament, but he did win all the other Grand Slam titles and remains a hugely influential player in the history of the sport.

Even if you don’t remember Lendl’s playing career you’ll know him as the coach of current ATP number one Andy Murray, and while Murray’s sponsor Under Armour doesn’t sell the shoes he wears on the court, Italian brand Superga has released an updated version of the shoe Lendl wore during his heyday – and it’s a slick, stylish retro design with a rubber sole and leather upper.

You’ll probably find a better technical shoe to play tennis in nowadays, but its shapely form and details like the perforated swallowtail design on the side make for a great-looking summer shoe. It’s available in white, navy and black. £75, buy on superga.co.uk
