The Garmin Ride Out Cycling Event Will Take Place In The New Forest This August

The long months of winter are over and cyclists have emerged from garages and basements used for indoor turbo training to spend their weekends logging long rides in the countryside. That means it’s high time to start adding some cycling events to your calendar, and there are many reasons why Garmin Ride Out should be one of them.

Those reasons start with the route, which is a 50-mile (80km) loop around the New Forest, where riders who want to get their head up and enjoy the scenery will never be short of an impressive view.

Meanwhile, those who want to keep their head down and power through the route will be encouraged by the fairly flat profile of the event, which involves just 528m of climbing. Speedsters will also find added inspiration in the pros lined up to take part in Ride Out 2022, who include Olympic gold medallist Dani Rowe and triathlete Beth Potter.

It costs £55 to enter, and you get an array of added extras for that price, including breakfast and lunch, and a recovery yoga session at the race village, plus a cycling jersey and medal at the finish line. And while no UK event can ever guarantee good weather, the fact that Ride Out 2022 takes place in August should mean that at least any rain is fairly warm.

We reckon Ride Out 2022 is a great option for newer cyclists or those looking to stretch their wings beyond a daily commute. The route is long enough to provide a challenge without being so long that you’ll be in the saddle all day, and the manageable amount of climbing also makes it more welcoming to all abilities.

The event raises money for Action Medical Research, a children’s charity based in West Sussex, and the 2022 race will take place on 20th August, starting and finishing at Moyles Court School in Ringwood, Hampshire. You can sign up to take part now on the Action Medical Research website.
