As always, the first thing we checked in the Nike Black Friday sale was the Vaporfly NEXT% 2, and as always we found that it was excluded from the promotion available (though you can nab the Alphafly for £155.98 with the code GAME21 (opens in new tab), which is a great deal).

We always check because the Vaporfly NEXT% 2 is just a phenomenal shoe. Nike set the carbon plate super shoe revolution in motion and still leads the pack – Nike Vaporfly running shoes really do help to propel you along when running fast and protect your legs from (some) of the damage you’ll do by racing at pace.

Fortunately Pro:Direct Running has come through this Black Friday by reducing several colours of the Vaporfly NEXT% 2 (opens in new tab), with the best deal seeing the shoe’s price drop to £168. The great news for men is that reduction is on the very best colour of the Vaporfly – the light blue one. For women it’s on the all-white Vaporfly, which is still nice, but you’ll have to stump up £189 for the blue one if you want it.

As of now there is a decent range of sizes available in the shoe, but we don’t expect that to be the case for very long, so move fast if you want to secure a rare deal on the Vaporfly.

The second version of the Vaporfly NEXT% largely stuck to the same formula as the original, combining Nike’s light and springy ZoomX midsole foam with a carbon plate. The upper has been changed from the Vaporweave material on the original NEXT% to a mesh, a change that we largely found to be a positive update, if not a game changer.

Pretty much every brand has now launched their own carbon plate running shoe but it’s still fair to say the Vaporfly remains the most popular option across every distance from 5K to the marathon. Grab yourself a pair in the sale and go see what the fuss is all about.
