After almost a year of living under COVID-19 restrictions, it’s fair to say that most of us have tried some form of home exercise class. In fact, there’s a good chance you’re a little tired of the usual options available to you at this point, which is why we thought it worth highlighting something a little out of the ordinary: 24 hours of free virtual Zumba classes.

The Zumba 24 event takes place between 6pm Saturday 23rd January and 6pm on Sunday 24th, so it’s ideally timed to inject a bit of fun into your weekend and reignite your motivation to exercise when perhaps the initial New Year burst has started to wear thin.

For the uninitiated, Zumba classes involve dancing to a variety of music genres, with salsa, reggaeton and Bollywood all on the Zumba 24 line-up. The intensity of the classes varies so people of all fitness levels and dancing ability can get involved in Zumba 24 by picking the sessions that suit them. The creator of Zumba, Beto Perez, will be hosting the first and last classes of the event, with presenters from all around the world taking the sessions in between.

The event is free but you need to sign up to take part, which you can do on the Zumba website. There you’ll also find three free sample workouts to give you a taste of Zumba. All three are under 15 minutes long – in fact one is just five minutes, ideal for a quick dip of the toe into the world of Zumba.

You can now browse the schedule for the event, which also tells you which country the instructors hail from for each hour of the event. If you’re looking for the UK instructors, they’re part of the team handling the 8pm-9pm slot on Saturday, along with experts from the Netherlands, France and South Africa.
