The Most Instagrammable Gyms In London

While there is an argument for only taking your phone into the gym to follow workouts or listen to music, there’s no arguing that gym selfies are exceptionally popular. A study of the Twitter and Instagram tag #gymselfie last December found 130,000 posts to analyse.

So it looks like the #gymselfie takers are here to stay and if you can’t beat them – and it should be stressed that you really can’t beat them; take it out on a punchbag if you must – then there’s always the option of joining them. And if you’re looking for the perfect gym pic to grace your Instagram, one of these five London gyms as selected by Another_Space might be your best bet.

Naturally Another_Space is on the list, but it’s spread the love around its boutique brethren too.

Another_Space

Choose between spin sessions, yoga classes and HIIT workouts at this boutique gym in Covent Garden, where you buy credits for classes rather than a monthly membership. Of the three disciplines on offer, the natural light in the yoga studio offers the best chance of an Instagram classic, especially if you can do a handstand.

Blok London

Located in the heart of Clapton, this boutique gym is set in a refurbished Victorian tram depot. That means bare brick walls, vaulted ceilings and cast-iron pillars, all appropriate backdrops for your post-workout shot. But to our mind, the best setting is in the boxing studio thanks to the brown leather punchbags.

BXR

If you’re really lucky Anthony Joshua, who is on the BXR membership committee, will be on hand to join you in your post-workout pic at this members-only boxing gym in Marylebone. He has really long arms, so he’s great at selfies.

1Rebel

If there’s one thing Instagram loves as much as pictures of avocado smoothies, it’s pictures of witty and/or motivational signs. The St Mary Axe 1Rebel studio, just along the road from the Gherkin, updates its sign regularly. Some days are better than others, but that just means there’s an extra incentive to come back and mine that ’gram gold.

Kobox

Another boutique boxing gym (boxing rings always look first class in Instagram posts), Kobox has a dark setting and neon strip lights that will require some sharp work with the settings to avoid a blurry mess – but get it right and you will be rewarded with likes aplenty. It has locations in Chelsea and the City.
