With so many fitness trackers available there aren’t too many ways to stand out from the crowd. One option is to offer an innovative new feature, another is to focus on a sensational design and a third is to undercut the competition.

Samsung seems to be taking that third way with two of its batch of new fitness trackers – the Galaxy Fit and Fit e. Although the final prices are yet to be confirmed, the Galaxy Fit is set to offer an impressive set of features for a mooted £85-95 and the Fit e looks to be a hell of a bargain at a rumoured price of around £30-35.

Both devices offer heart rate tracking and are waterproof to 5ATM, so you can take them swimming. The (admittedly more expensive) Gear Fit 2 Pro had excellent swim tracking features, so we’re hopeful these will also prove a couple of waterproof winners. The devices will also track over 90 different activities, though you will have to select and start the activity you’re doing in the Samsung Health app on your phone – unless it’s one of the sports the Galaxy Fit and Fit e tracks automatically, which include running, cycling and general “dynamic workouts”, which should cover anything energetic you do in the gym.

There is no built-in GPS on either of the bands, but that’s fair enough given their price. Both bands will show notifications from your phone, track your sleep and monitor your stress levels.

The Galaxy Fit has a larger, clearer screen than the Fit e, which is smaller and less stylish. The Fit has a bigger battery as well, though no details of battery life on either tracker have been released yet. The Fit also has a more powerful processor under the hood, along with a gyroscope, which the Fit e lacks, but otherwise the two trackers offer largely the same features.

Samsung is yet to announce the release date for the two devices, though it’s expected to be in April or May, and the promotional Samsung Fit website does say the features could still change. The price is also not confirmed, but look out for the Fit e in particular – if it comes in around the rumoured £35, it will be the cheapest tracker available from a leading brand.
