Taking part in Cycle To Work Day is, in many ways, its own reward. You get to exercise on the way to work, save money on public transport, and hopefully ignite or reinvigorate your love of cycling so that you keep on riding.

However, for those who want more tangible prizes, you’re in luck, because this year riding to work could see you rewarded with a brand new Specialized electric bike.

Cycle To Work Day 2019 falls on Thursday 8th August and to celebrate the occasion the organisers are giving away £10,000 worth of prizes over a seven-week period around the day. The prize-giving started back in early July, with different rewards up for grabs each week.

Some impressive prizes have been handed out already, including a Ribble AL e electric bike, but the real bonanza comes on the 8th itself. If you cycle to work on that day and log your ride on the Love To Ride website, your name goes into the hat to win one of four prizes: a Specialized electric mountain bike or electric hybrid, or £250 worth of Endura gear, men’s or women’s.

We reckon an electric bike is just about the best commuter option in most cities, helping you cruise to work without having to use public transport or sit in your car in traffic. An e-bike will help you cycle without sweating, since it still requires some effort but helps with the toughest bits – getting up to speed and getting up hills. It’s the ideal level of exertion to get you set up for the day without needing to hit the showers before your desk.

If you miss out on the Cycle To Work Day prizes there is still one more chance to win something. If you update your cycling story on the Love To Ride website at some point between 12th-16th August, you’ll have a chance to win one of five £100 Rapha vouchers to put towards some new kit from the premium British brand.

To get involved in the competitions you’ll need to register on the Love To Ride site, which is easy because you can use either your Facebook or Strava account (or create a dedicated username and password if you wish). Use a Strava account and your rides will be automatically logged on Love To Ride.
