If you’re a cycling fanatic who’s already begun sketching out plans for 2017, tear them to shreds, as a game-changing new opportunity has come along. Apparel makers Pearl Izumi are seeking ambassadors of all shapes and sizes from the UK’s legion of cyclists to join their new “Champion Team”. The mission? To share your love of cycling with as many people as possible...

To the victors go the spoils, as being a Pearl Izumi Champion brings with it a raft of benefits. As well as a stash of exclusive kit, the champions get 40% off Pearl Izumi gear, access to exclusive events, entrance to races and expert tuition. There are also monthly fitness goals to help challenge the riders.

By the end of the 10-month programme, you’ll almost certainly be a much-improved, not to mention nattily-dressed, cyclist. Pearl Izumi are looking for a diverse range of two-wheelers for the team – all abilities are set to be represented, so don’t worry if you’re not an elite rider already, and both road and mountain bikers are equally welcome.

The key attributes required are incredible levels of enthusiasm for cycling and for growing the sport in the UK. Being a social media whizz and loving Pearl Izumi clothing are also likely to help your case. Applications for the Champion Team are open until November 25, with the lucky winners set to take up their 10-month posts as Pearl Izumi ambassadors in February 2017.
