Take A Last-Minute Adventure Holiday In North Wales

Restrictions on foreign travel are starting to ease in the UK, but guidelines are still changing regularly, so this year one of the best holiday options is still exploring parts of the country you might have overlooked in the past in pursuit of sunnier climes.

One of those parts is north Wales, which is a hotbed of outdoor adventure and home to some of the most spectacular scenery in the UK.

North Wales is easy to explore without a car thanks to a decent network of bus routes – and you can skip the work of cross-referencing timetables to create an itinerary by outsourcing it to slow-travel company Byway, which has partnered with tourist board Go North Wales to launch a multi-stop trip planning service in the area.

Byway specialises in car- and flight-free holidays, making it easier to enjoy travelling between destinations by train, bus and boat. You get to avoid the frustrations of sitting in a traffic jam and paying through the nose for parking everywhere you stop. Byway books all your accommodation and travel for you, and helps to create an itinerary once you enter the kind of activities you enjoy on the website.

In north Wales, you are spoilt for choice for activities, but the first thing to nail in place on your schedule is a visit to the world’s longest and fastest zipline. Actually, maybe that should be the second thing to book, because a trip to the world’s first underground trampoline park also sounds pretty epic.

There are also many more conventional outdoor activities to be found in the Plas y Brenin National Outdoor Centre, including rock climbing and abseiling, and endless opportunities to hike around the awesome scenery of Snowdonia National Park.

Byway still has accommodation available in north Wales this August, so you can save your summer if your plans have been torpedoed by the rules around foreign travel, but if you ask us this is a holiday that should be top of anyone’s list.
