If you even have a passing interest in gaming, you’ll be well aware of the Final Fantasy series – it’s one of the biggest and best (at least sometimes) RPG franchises in the world. One of the most celebrated entries is Final Fantasy VI, and it’s finally coming to the PC in an updated version (it was first released on the Super NES way back in the halcyon days of 1994). Unfortunately it uses the same graphics as the newer mobile version, which aren’t as nice as the original’s, but that’s life. Chin up – worse things have happened.

If you were one of the millions of people who listened to the first Serial, then you’ll understand how a podcast can become an all-consuming, potentially life-ruining addiction. The first season – an investigation of a very real murder – changed the way people thought about podcasts, and this second series aims to continue down that path. This time the case being looked at is the mysterious capture and detainment of Bowe Bergdahl – a US soldier – by the Taliban. Download this and say goodbye to your free time.

Event

Stuck for something to do on NYE? Of course you are – everyone is. So make sure you have a night to remember by attending this upmarket extravaganza in Battersea. For those who can’t really afford – or be bothered – to travel to New York to see in 2016, Times Square has been recreated in London, complete with dodgems (so, even better than Times Square, then), a casino, and a load of delicious food and unlimited free drink to help you end the year in style. Or with your shirt untucked and unbuttoned, tie around your head and screaming – either is good.
